Champ-de-Mars


Son nom vient du Champ de Mars romain (et donc du dieu romain Mars, dieu de la guerre). Le 14 juillet 1790, eut lieu la fête de la Fédération. Le 17 juillet 1791, s'y produisit la fusillade du Champ-de-Mars. Jean Sylvain Bailly y fut guillotiné le 12 novembre 1793. On y célèbra la fête de l'Être suprême, le 6 juin 1794. Au centre de l'esplanade était dressé l'autel de la Patrie
